day four and still blogging
The title of this altered postcard is one of those quasi-academic numbers : [all you who've ventured to journey to the land of ivory towers know what i'm talking about] complete with colons and two sentences long, ahem, here it is "Let them eat cake: or, you stand on their shoulders". i love the juxtaposition of the late 18th, (perhaps early 19th, but before the Napoleonic Era i'm guessing) elegance and attitude so boldly displayed against the muted almost imperceptible individuals that are captured in image nearly swarming in numbers. my intent was to make the viewer consider the manner in which the colonies obtained those goods and lifestyles that they so ostentatiously enjoyed.
and on a cheery note, its day four and i'm still blogging. and i signed up to do 30k more words (which will bring my novel to a finish i'm hoping) in the next three weeks. then it will be the absolute infierno of editing. now there's the rub, eh?
