sleep in peace, my darling feline angel. it is one month since our precious baby, miss kitty whiskersons (aka baby whiskers, whiskers, the little badness, among other pet names) has left this temporal plane. about 100 miles away from here, she wanders the sunny sandy slopes of wild grass, with her cousins in the country. if only i could have buried her among the romarin and lavander that she loved to hide in for hours, rolling in the dried and fallen leaves for hours until she moved to a cool spot on the shady sidewalk to clean and primp for another 35 minutes or so. she brought us so much joy and happiness, and we loved spoiling her.
she was so sick, and we never knew. it was possible that whoever abandoned her knew that, and since we found her, we will never know why her previous owners deserted her. we only know that ever since the first pre-dawn hours when she sought me out on the pasa de olivos, running up and hitting me with her head until i stopped to talk to her, my life was filled with blessings and joy. she was my familiar, my guide, my spirit companion. she will always be with me, and our hearts fill with love when we think of her. be happy, baby whiskers, in the eternal light where you can nap in the warm golden rays of sun forever. we kiss you and wait for the day when we will join you.
